Dallas law firm reaps benefits of association membership

"For the first 17 years finding a good lawyer was a lottery with no guarantee of success for our clients. This has changed since we joined MSI last year." Tim Perkins

Despite a steadily expanding practice and client list, Tim Perkins of Dallas law firm Smith, Underwood & Perkins, had a concern that business could slip away from the firm as some of their top 10 clients increasingly required representation in cross-border litigation, bankruptcy or intellectual property issues.

When one of our top clients, a Texas based manufacturing company was confronted with a number of out of state warranty, human resources and regulatory issues, I needed to be able to confidently refer my client to a good lawyer and firm who would handle their business the same way we would. This was the moment the value that MSI adds to our business and that of our clients really hit home.

Tim's client in Texas is a manufacturing company with sales revenues in excess of $100 million and customers in the 48 contiguous states.

MSI member firms including Weston Hurd of Cleveland, Ohio, were able to competently handle the clients business, resulting in satisfaction for all parties.

In our eyes Tim's firm is even more of a full-service law firm since joining MSI. We have received partner-level support from MSI members who have treated us with the same swift personal service we get from Tims firm. It is like dealing with a national law firm, but without the expense, says the firm's general counsel.
