Malaysia's PM appoints Chooi Mun Sou to anti-corruption committee

Patricia Gomez - 27 March 2009
Founded of Chooi & Company returns to 'national service' in fight against corruption

Chooi Mun Sou, founder and senior partner of MSI's Malaysian law firm member, Chooi & Company, has been appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the five-person Complaints Committee of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (‘the MACC’). The MACC is a new statutory body established to oversee the investigation of corrupt practices in Malaysia.

The appointment marks a return to “national service” for Chooi Mun Sou, who in 1984 was appointed by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia to a three-man special committee formed to investigate the BMF/Carrian Group affair, one of Malaysia’s most notorious financial scandals.
