Shanghai law firm announces immediate plans to recruit 200 attorneys

Pauline Law - 07 May 2008
Lehman, Lee & Xu targets grow across all firm practices

Shanghai law firm member, Lehman, Lee & Xu, has announced plans to expand its presence in Shanghai by hiring an additional 200 attorneys.  The prominent Chinese-licensed law firm intends to grow all of its practices, including corporate law, commercial law, intellectual property law, family law, employment law, and litigation.

“This expansion is really long overdue,” commented Scott Garner, Director of Lehman, Lee & Xu’s Shanghai Office.  “We’ve been operating at our current staff level for a number of years. Our client base in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang keeps growing and we’ve had to rely on attorneys from our Beijing, Shenzhen, and Chengdu offices.  Hiring 200 attorneys is just part of our plan to support our clients’ needs in Shanghai.”

The additional staff will require a considerable investment even for one of China’s largest law firms. Betty Choy, Financial Director, commented that: “Of course, it’s quite a commitment in terms of human capital.  However, the firm’s management was unanimous on the necessity of this strategic move.  It wasn’t a question of ‘if’ but a question of ‘when.’”

Lehman, Lee & Xu will immediately begin accepting applications for the announced positions. Mr. Wenchang Ye, Partner, will manage all new attorney hiring.
