One of the North’s leading clinical negligence solicitors recently joined Northwest UK law firm member Burnetts.
Angela Curran joins Burnetts’ medical law team as a Partner. Angela, who lives in Newcastle, is an expert in the sensitive area of birth trauma cases, working extensively with children with cerebral palsy. She is described by the Legal 500 as “very impressive” and “analytical and perceptive’’.

Accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) for her experience in both Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury cases, Angela is also a member of the Court of Appeal Medication Panel. She is an experienced mediator and sat on the SRA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution committee which drafted policies and guidance for lawyers who favour a less confrontational approach to resolving disputes.
Angela is a Trustee of the North East Special Needs Network and very active on the Appeal Committee of Percy Hedley School, a specialist school for children with cerebral palsy, children with hearing or visual impairments and children with speech, language and communication difficulties.
Angela said, “My area of work is very specialized and very sensitive because I am working with parents whose children have been profoundly disabled by someone they trusted. There is a great deal of pressure on these families. I’ve met some marvelously inspirational people. It is my job to get answers and help them secure financial protection for their children.”
Tom Leach is Burnetts’ Managing Partner. He said, “Our medical law team, led by Vicki Jagger, already has a national reputation and I’m thrilled that a leading lawyer like Angela is now joining us. With her help, we can now look after clients across the north of England.”
Angela trained with Newcastle’s Watson Burton, and was formerly a Partner and Head of Clinical Negligence Irwin Mitchell Newcastle.
