More mixed signals on Australian economy?

ABC reports today that the number of people with mortgages on their homes who are falling behind on monthly payments has risen unexpectedly. The report said that more and more new borrowers are struggling to pay their home loans.

The report was based on ratings agency Fitch Ratings home loan index. Fitch said the result was driven by an increase in new arrears, with a rise in the number of mortgage holders 30 to 59 days behind on their repayments.
