Profile

Aitken Partners is a Premium Level Melbourne-based law firm offering a range of legal services to business and private clients. We also have experience working with government and statutory authorities.

Overview

Aitken Partners is a Premium Level Melbourne-based law firm offering a range of legal services to business and private clients. We also have experience working with government and statutory authorities.
We have eight partners and 25 other professional staff, many of whom are Accredited Specialists in their fields (including property, taxation, business law, wills & estates, commercial litigation and family law). We encourage everyone in our team to continually expand and enhance their skills through ongoing training and professional development initiatives. We have a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in place that encourages our staff to become involved in their communities and we have a formal arrangement in place as a firm for the supply of pro bono legal advice to beyondblue: the national depression initiative.
Aitken Partners has prospered for 90 years through a combination of professional, personalised service based on sound advice and a careful focus on our clients’ needs. We are dedicated to providing advice that is underpinned by understanding and commerciality, including the provision of true value for money with a commitment to providing commerciality in our advice to clients.
It is our job to be proactive in the delivery of advice and services to our clients and we regularly review changes to laws and practices in the commercial world and advise our clients of the possible impact of these changes. We run risk audits across a range of areas – such as taxation, employment and governance – and from each audit we work with our clients to ensure all legal and business risks are minimised.
Aitken Partners operates under a fully corporate structure. We have an executive committee and a management team that reflects the core functionalities of our business, and works closely with our Partners to ensure the needs of our clients and staff are being met.

We believe in building long term, sustainable relationships with our clients by providing true value for money and accurate, timely advice.

We have a number of policies and procedures that guide our operations, including:
Cost Control
Risk Management
Business Continuity Processes
Handling Complaints
Conflict of Interest
Resource Availability
Professional Development
We are also happy to explore fixed fee arrangements to provide cost certainty to our clients, and we are working actively to make this our standard way of doing business, rather than the alternative.
We are a small firm with a big heart. We have a broad range of experience across most facets of the law and serve a range of business and private clients, both locally, interstate and overseas. Our holistic approach means we work to understand our clients, their needs and their industries.
As such, we have developed specific experience in the following industries:
Aged Care & Retirement Villages
Alpine Property
Compulsory Acquisition
Family Law
Manufacturing & Retail
Property Development & Construction
Transport & Logistics
Workplace Relations
