Alan joined Price Waterhouse & Co. in Nassau in 1965 and left in 1979 as Audit Manager. He later became one of the partners in Ronald Atkinson & Co. and then in Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). In 1991, Alan started his own firm as Alan E.H. Bates & Co.
