Overview

Barry A. Furman is a principal of the firm and a member of the Corporate Law & Business Planning and Tax & Estates Departments.  He represents a wide range of business clients for whom he provides corporate law, taxation, healthcare law, employment law, estate planning and estate administration services.  Many of Mr. Furman's clients are healthcare providers for whom Mr. Furman's services including various regulatory advice, contract negotiations and drafting, and joint venture structuring. 
Mr. Furman's corporation practice includes formation issues, business structing, mergers and acquisitions, financing, licenses and business succession planning.  Mr. Furman has a Masters of Law in Taxation and utilizes his tax knowledge to maximize tax benefits, assist clients with their business needs and counsel clients regarding their estate planning needs. 
Mr. Furman's employment law practice includes compliance counseling, negotiations and preparing employment, independent contractor, non-competition and confidentiality agreements and a Wage & Hour practice representing clients before the United States Department of Law and in the courts.
As a former trial attorney for the IRS' Chief Counsel Office, Mr. Furman has a keen insight into IRS practices and procedures that have helped him represent clients sucessfully before the IRS and the courts.  One area of his litigation practice is employment taxes.  Mr. Furman has defended many clients in Pennsylvania and other states, including New York, New Jersey, California, whome classifications of workers as independent contractors have been challenged by the IRS, United States Department of Labor, and various state agencies.
