Overview
Bruce A. Fowler focuses his practice on estates and trusts and general tax issues, including state and local taxes. In the estate planning area, Bruce aids his clients in defining and implementing family wealth transfer goals, structuring estates in a manner that minimizes the estate tax impact and maximizing asset protection, and transferring family-owned and closely-held businesses in a tax-efficient manner. He represents estates and beneficiaries in probate and litigation proceedings and trustees in the administration of trusts. Also, Bruce represents clients in tax controversies, most specifically in the state and local tax area.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Bruce practiced for five years as a CPA with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, and as a state and local tax specialist for a Fortune 500 company. Immediately after law school, Bruce's practice specialized in tax litigation and estate planning for the law firms of Jones Day, an international law firm, and Hall Estill in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bruce moved to Colorado in 2000 to join one of Denver's largest Estate and Trust practices.
Bruce contributes time to various community programs and non-profits. He is Chair Emeritus for PlatteForum, which is an arts education organization that won the Mayor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2007. Bruce is Chair of the Board for Friends of the Chain Foundation, an organization that supports an orphanage for blind children in Uganda. He also serves on the Riverfront Park Community Foundation. Bruce is currently participating in the Leadership Denver program.
