Overview

Christopher J. Caruso is a partner in the Business Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights practice of Moses & Singer.  His practice involves negotiating distressed transactions and litigating before federal bankruptcy and district courts.  Furthermore, Chris counsels clients on minimizing their risks when conducting business with distressed entities and maximizing their recoveries from debtors.  He has substantial experience representing parties in numerous bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings in New York and Delaware, as well as California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and North Carolina.

Chris represents creditors' committees and secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 cases.  He also counsels distressed entities seeking bankruptcy protection and acquirers of debtors' businesses or assets, as well as lenders, landlords and Chapter 7 trustees.  Chris routinely represents defendants in preference litigation and has successfully settled tens of millions of dollars in preference claims.

A graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, Chris is President of the School’s Alumni Association and Chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  He began his legal career at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson.
