Overview

Derek graduated with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA degree before obtaining the Law degree.  Derek is an all-rounded intellectual property lawyer handling contentious and non-contentious patent, trade mark and copyright cases.  Derek has drafted patent specifications and obtained patent grant in jurisdictions including USA, Europe, Australia, China and Hong Kong, in the areas of toys, surgical instruments and other consumer products.

Derek has prosecuted Hong Kong trade mark opposition and invalidation cases for numerous listed companies in China, including some most well-know Chinese brand names in fashion, cosmetics and motor industries.  Derek has extensive experience in prosecuting litigation cases for patent, trade mark, and copyright infringement in Hong Kong and China, and represents an international client of a fashion brand name from France.  Derek also drafts licensing and technology transfer agreements related to intellectual property.
