Overview

Hans practiced in intellectual property for over 15 years before joining ONC. He was an electronics and telecommunications engineer for over 5 years prior to practising in intellectual property. Hans had drafted, filed, and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications worldwide, and had assisted clients in successfully enforcing patents and designs in jurisdictions including the USA, Europe, China, and Hong Kong. He is one of the very few lawyers in Hong Kong who had enforced patents originally drafted by him. His clients included manufacturers of consumer products, semiconductors and power tools, universities, applied research institutes, investment funds from the Greater China region and overseas.

His practice is mainly in contentious and non-contentious matters relating to technology and industrial products, including preparation of patent specifications, prosecution of patent applications, patent litigation and invalidation proceedings, as well as advising clients on patent and design portfolio management and transaction, and client advisory work such as clearance and IP strategies. His main technical fields include telecommunications, wireless communications, encryption, semiconductor fabrication, analogue circuitry, power management devices, LCD display technology, lighting technology, household appliances, refractory products and educational toys.
