Overview

James M. Sullivan is a partner in the firm’s Business Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. The primary focus of his practice is corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, distressed situations and complex commercial disputes. James brings a wealth of experience representing creditor committees, corporate debtors, banks, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, and distressed investors in large chapter 11 cases.

On the transactional side, James counsels borrowers and lenders in matters involving corporate and acquisition financing. He also appears before numerous federal and state courts throughout the country on these matters.

James has handled a range of cases for his clients in litigation, trial and mediation. Recent matters include:

Successful representation of debtors in bankruptcy proceedings and reorganization of a major dairy products manufacturer;
Representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors of a clothng retailer;

Representation of the unofficial creditor’s committee of a major oil company in bankruptcy-related matters;

Representation of the creditor trust established in connection with the Chapter 11 proceedings of a major automotive and textile manufacturer; and

Representation of the largest secured creditor and eventual owner of the reorganized business of a health care company in its bankruptcy proceedings.

Before joining Moses & Singer, James practiced at McDermott Will & Emory, where he became a partner. He regularly authors and lectures on numerous topics concerning bankruptcy, and is an experienced pilot who enjoys skiing and scuba diving.
