James A. Shifren joined Moses & Singer in 2011 as of counsel in the firm’s Litigation practice group. He is a valuable resource to the firm based on his extensive experience in complex commercial matters, international dispute resolutions and appeals. Furthermore, James is skilled at negotiating the resolution of a wide variety of complex claims. He has considerable past experience representing real estate developers, owners, banks, public and private companies, high-net-worth individuals and family offices, as well as NGOs (non-governmental organizations) as both plaintiffs and defendants.
Outside the firm, James is a General Partner at Buckland Partners, a group of fundamentals-driven long-short equity hedge funds. Prior to joining Buckland, he was a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP. James is also a board member of the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale and is active in the world of independent feature films. He is a former law clerk to Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye of the New York Court of Appeals.
