Overview
Louis is particularly experienced in the area of employment law. He routinely provides advisory services and also acts as counsel in the Industrial Court and in all tiers of the Malaysian courts in employment disputes. Louis is also regularly engaged as counsel in a wide range of civil matters. In 2007, he was counsel for a hospital in a case where Malaysia’s highest Court redefined the test applied in medical negligence. His experience is also sought in non-contentious work, principally in corporate transactions which involve elements of employer-employee relations. Louis has been named in Chambers Asia 2009 as a “Leading Individual” for employment and industrial relations work in Malaysia.
Louis graduated in 1990 with a degree in law from the University of London. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1993 after joining Chooi & Company as a pupil in 1992. He became a partner in 2000.
