International Accounting Networks & Associations: To Be or Not To Be

MSI Global Alliance takes part in round table discussion

MSI's Chief Executive James Mendelssohn recently took part in a round table discussion organised by the publishers of The Accountant and International Accounting Bulletin, VRL Financial News. Attended by leaders from organisations such as the ICAEW, Baker Tilly International, Grant Thornton International, RSM International and BDO UK, the discussion explored the pros and cons of each international grouping's structural strategy, the legal implications and what the future may hold.

With the incidence of vicarious liability suits increasing, the round table debate aimed to bust the myths surrounding the debate and provide better clarity of both models and their implications.

James Mendelssohn argued the advantages offered by the international accounting association, particulary the role it is better suited to playing in terms of servicing businesses that may be expanding overseas for the first time or doing business on a bilateral basis.

James also expressed the view that firms, particulary in the U.S., are worried about vicarious liability and confirmed that questions related to liability are typically among the those that have to be addressed early on when dealing with firms considering membership.
