MSI's South Carolina and Georgia law member Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP has appointed Marc Hewitt practice area leader of the firm’s health care group.
A partner in the firm and based in Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Raleigh office, Hewitt focuses on health care litigation, administrative disputes, managed care and regulatory matters for hospitals, dialysis providers, nursing facilities, diagnostic service providers and other private providers. Hewitt also advises health care providers on regulatory compliance and related issues before the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Insurance.
Hewitt is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association where he serves as a council member for the health law section. He also formerly served as president of the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys, and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Wake Country Bar Association. Hewitt was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in 2016 and 2017 for Health Care Litigation. Additionally, he was selected by Triangle Business Leader Magazine as a “top lawyer” in the health care field.
Hewitt is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in economics. He received his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
