The United Kingdom left the European Union (EU) on Friday 31 January 2020 (the Brexit Date). Following the Brexit Date, a transition period started, during which time the United Kingdom remains subject to the laws of the EU and remains a
member of the EU single market and customs union (the Transition Period).
The Transition Period will come to an end on 31 December 2020, regardless of the outcome of the ongoing negotiations between the EU and the UK with regards to a new trade deal and other additional arrangements.
