MSI’s Argentine law member GARCÍA MENÉNDEZ ABOGADOS successfully represented a client in one of the most important antitrust cases of the year which is related to maritime pilotage.
The firm’s client (a group of companies that act in the main ports of Argentina) was accused to be the leader of a hard-core cartel involved in price-fixing the pilotage services in the main Argentine ports.
The case, which was widely reported in the Argentine news due to its importance, and that was mentioned by the former President of the country in the speech of the day of the industry in 2018, caused a major strike in the main ports that paralyzed the international maritime commerce in Argentina for a period of days.
Many maritime pilot associations around the world were keeping a close eye on the developments of this case in Argentina.
The case has been finally dismissed by the Antitrust authority of Argentina.
Argentinean law firm García Menéndez Abogados provides sophisticated and comprehensive advice to companies and individuals in their day-to-day business, combining high quality legal services with a direct relationship with the client.
