MSI's South Carolina and Georgia law member Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP is delighted to announce that partner Robert R. Marcus has been elected partner-in-charge of the Charlotte office and will serve on the firm’s six-person Management Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the operations of the firm’s seven offices located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Marcus previously served as the firm-wide managing partner from 2008-2014. As partner-in-charge he succeeds Jon Heyl, who served since 2014. “Rob’s longstanding commitment to the firm and his client-focused perspective make him an ideal candidate for the management committee,” said Managing Partner Julie Earp. “We enthusiastically welcome him back to the group and look forward to his contributions to the Charlotte office and the firm overall.”
Marcus, a founding partner of the firm’s Charlotte office, has built an established litigation practice with a wide range of trial experience in high-stakes, complex business disputes. He has litigated significant cases involving intellectual property, securities and financial disputes, insurance coverage matters, contract enforcement, and class actions and personal injury claims.
Marcus received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Hamilton College and his law degree, with honors, from Duke University School of Law. He has been consistently recognised for his litigation skills in Chambers and Partners, Best Lawyers in America®, Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite, and Super Lawyers in the areas of business litigation, general commercial litigation, and class action defense, among other areas.
