MSI's Georgia and South Carolina law firm member Smith Moore Leatherwood is pleased to announce the addition of Matthew Nichols as a partner and member of the firm's Real Estate Group in the Wilmington office.
Nichols’ practice will focus on land use, development and real estate related litigation. He has represented clients in hearings and other proceedings before municipal and county boards on a wide variety of land use, permitting and real estate matters. He currently serves as a council member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Zoning, Planning & Land Use Section, and he is a former member of the Town of Wrightsville Beach Planning Board.
“We are excited to welcome Matt aboard and are confident that he will be a highly valued counselor to new and existing clients,” said David Martin, partner in charge of the Wilmington office. “He has significant real estate experience, both commercial and residential, which will help us meet the growing market demand for our firm’s services.”
Nichols received his law degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996, where he served as Note Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, and he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kentucky, earning his bachelor’s degree, with high distinction, and departmental honors in English.
With seven offices and more than 165 attorneys across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, the firm’s core practice areas are focused on litigation, business law, health care, real estate, and labor and employment.
