Alix Frank Attorneys' ‘The Women in Law Initiative' will present the 2020 Justitia Awards
On 19 November, the winner of the Justitia Awards 2020 will be revealed. Women in law, who have not only achieved outstanding professional achievements both nationally and internationally but who have also been pioneers and role models for women in the legal profession, will be honored in three categories. The special prize for organizations goes to the European Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA), which was founded 20 years ago by the British lawyer Cherie Blair together with fellow women lawyers from 15 European countries and is still one of the most important European platforms for women lawyers today. Those nominees who made it onto the shortlist will be featured individually by The Women in Law Initiative in the coming weeks.Categories
1st category: "International leaders / Lifetime Award" celebrates the most impressive and influential women in the legal profession and acknowledges their achievements and contribution to society. The winner is "the" outstanding "woman in law" of the year. 2nd category: "Academia" have an excellent scholarly reputation and considerable influence on their field. They have made sustained efforts to bring about positive changes in attitudes, values, and practices concerning gender equality in the legal professions. 3rd category: "Young achievers / Game changers / Pioneers" are lateral thinkers who pursue innovative approaches, who have broken the glass ceiling in their field of expertise, or who set new standards in the legal professions even as young newcomers.Jury
Selecting the best from the submissions from 4 continents was no easy task for the top-class jury. Together with the co-initiator of Women in Law, the Viennese lawyer Dr. Alix Frank-Thomasser, Timothy Wilson, OBE, CEO of the MSI Global Alliance, Prof. Dr. Sonja Bydlinski, MBA, Head of the Department for Corporate and Company Law in the Federal Ministry of Justice, Dr. Rupert Wolff, President of the Austrian Bar Association (ÖRAK), Dr. Julia Valsky, Head of Group Diversity Management, Erste Group Bank AG and Dr. Raffaela Zillner, LL.M., Juristenverband selected the winners in the respective categories.Shortlist
