Webster, Chamberlain & Bean LLP adds in-house healthcare counsel

MSI's Washington DC law member Webster, Chamberlain & Bean is delighted to announce that Lauren L. Dockter has joined the firm’s robust non-profit law practice.

Prior to joining the firm, Lauren spent over two decades in corporate and private practice.  She most recently served for 12 years as Deputy General Counsel for the American Physical Therapy Association (“APTA”), a large healthcare association that represents over 100,000 members.  In that role she handled myriad non-profit legal and business matters including intellectual property (copyright and trademark), data security, PCI compliance, corporate governance, CASL, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, lobbying laws, antitrust, web sites, social media, publications, HIPAA, professional development, employment, government affairs and insurance. Lauren negotiated a significant majority of the association’s contracts, reorganized and standardize the contract process to increase efficiencies, and presented in-staff contract training. Additionally, she ran the association’s Ethics and Judicial Committee, a bylaws mandated committee that processed highly sensitive ethics cases and produced ethics educational materials via online courses, articles, and podcasts. Before working in-house, Lauren worked at large and medium sized law firms in Chicago, Illinois where she successfully handled multi-million-dollar environmental insurance cases. Lauren earned an LL.M. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, a J.D. from Northern Illinois University and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She was also a Judicial Intern at the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Speaking for the firm, Mr. Dye comments: “Lauren is an asset to the firm, providing cutting-edge knowledge on the changing legal issues facing non-profits. Lauren’s in-depth business and legal acumen will continue to move Webster, Chamberlain forward as an innovative and strategic thinking law firm.” Mr. Herrold adds: “The skills that allow Webster, Chamberlain to maintain its market advantage and deliver on point advice in the non-profit legal space will continue to grow and evolve in cooperation with the great in-house counsel experience that Lauren can deliver.”
