Westorn Hurd LLP announces Of Counsel and two partners

MSI's Ohio law member is delighted to announce Robert I. Chernett as Of Counsel, Matthew J. McCracken and Steven L. Wasserman as partners.

Prior to joining Weston Hurd LLP, Robert, Matthew and Steven were Partners with the law firm of Chernett Wasserman LLC. Robert I. Chernett focuses his practice on litigation and transactional matters regarding real estate including: purchase, sale and development of commercial property throughout the United States; public and private mechanics' liens; construction and business litigation; foreclosure; commercial tax complaints; and landlord/tenant disputes. Bob's clients include: commercial banks, owners and developers of commercial projects in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Massachusetts, franchise holders of international hotels and restaurants, owners and developers of shopping centers, industrial office buildings, housing projects and hotels, landlords, general contractors, subcontractors and material men. In addition, Bob is local counsel for out of state law firms for real estate matters within the State of Ohio. Bob received his B.S. in 1969 from The Ohio State University and his J.D. in 1972 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In addition to his Ohio Bar admission, Bob has admission before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.   Matthew J. McCracken provides strategic analysis, negotiation and drafting support to lenders, small to medium-sized businesses, and individuals in a wide array of business-related matters. Matthew also serves as outside general counsel to The Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland and numerous regional and closely-held businesses. His areas of concentration include general business advice, various consumer protections laws, all types of employment matters, and out-of-court workouts for distressed businesses and commercial real estate lenders and borrowers. Other areas of expertise include real estate acquisition and financing, and commercial and residential leases. Matthew's litigation practice focuses on complex business disputes, consumer complaints, commercial real estate, creditor/debtor disputes, complex collection issues, title defects, employment disputes, and tortious conduct. Matthew received his B.S. in 1999 from Vassar College and his J.D. cum laude in 2004 from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. In addition to his Ohio Bar admission, Matthew has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.   Steven L. Wasserman focuses his practice on real estate, banking and business law. He has extensive experience in loan restructuring, workouts and financing alternatives for troubled real estate, and for more than 35 years has represented clients in buying and selling businesses, real estate development, leasing and financing, and complex shareholder and other business disputes. Steven has served on the board of directors and the audit committee of a publicly-traded telecommunications company, and has provided corporate governance advice to a variety of businesses and organizations. Steven received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1975 from the University of Cincinnati and his J.D. in 1978 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In addition to his Ohio Bar admission, Steven is admitted to practice in Arizona and Florida. His court admissions include the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Appellate Court for the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Supreme Court. Steven is the current Chair of the Certified Grievance Committee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
