Managing Partner, Cydel Pte Ltd
Delicia Ser is an aviation psychologist with more than 28 years spent studying how people perform, decide, and fail under pressure in environments where mistakes can be fatal. She has spent much of her career in the cockpit's world rather than the boardroom's: coaching elite pilots, selecting aircrew and air traffic controllers, and building the psychometric systems used to identify those with the best fit. As a volunteer Inspector of Accidents at Singapore's Transport Safety Investigation Bureau, she has served on major accident investigation teams, including the SQ006 crash, working to understand why competent, well trained professionals sometimes make catastrophic errors.
Today, as co-founder of the organisational psychology consultancy CYDEL, she brings that safety critical lens to aviation, rail, and other high stakes industries. Her work centres on a core insight from human factors: most incidents stem not from careless individuals but from systems, cultures, and conditions that make error more likely. Through crew resource management, safety culture assessment, fatigue risk management, and just culture frameworks, she helps organisations reshape the culture and leadership around their people, designing out the conditions that lead to failure rather than blaming those closest to it, and strengthening safety and operational performance together.
Her perspective offers something unusual for professionals in law and accountancy: a discipline built entirely around anticipating, designing out, and learning from human failure, where the cost of getting it wrong has always been measured in lives rather than in balance sheets.
